Herd Together is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate community members, 16 years of age and older, who are interested in volunteering at our property. Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends, spend time with horses and help others. Volunteers play an integral role in the success of our program and many of our clients would not be able to participate without their help and support. The program operates Monday to Friday. Blue card essential.
The minimum commitment is 1 hour per week. Volunteer opportunities include:
HORSE PROGRAM ASSISTANTS: – are responsible for assisting with the program and overseeing participants, training is provided, as well as keeping the charity area free of poo and general tidying. . MUST have good knowledge of HORSEMANSHIP and feel confident in working with horses.
IE feels confident working around horses, catching horses, picking up feet, owning their horses, or working around horses. Desirable working with NDIS or youth services.
BARN BUDDIES: – provide additional TLC to our program horses by committing time each week to groom and care for our horses. Horse experience required for this role.
PADDOCK SUPPORT: – help with a variety of tasks such as maintaining the paddocks and cleaning water troughs picking up and bagging poop unassisted.
GROUNDS: – volunteers are needed to assist with general maintenance and repairs of the facility, mowing, and keeping the area maintained.
SPECIAL EVENTS/FUNDRAISING; – as a non-profit, we greatly appreciate support with events and fundraising opportunities, and marketing.
